KINGWOOD – With the first quarter of 2021 almost on the books, Visit Mountaineer Country CVB is taking a moment to ponder fun 2020 favorites, upcoming events, and exciting transitions in progress. As we adjust to the “new normal,” safety will continue to be our top priority, but so will the fresh air and sunshine at the start of the seasonal change.

How does a climber measure six feet of social distance? Let’s see.

Relapse Thursday, mountaineering land! The CDC also recommends that you keep a minimum of six feet between you and your fellow climber for safety reasons. As part of our ongoing effort to provide helpful resources to you, we’ve done the math and put together a hands-on guide to social distancing in mountaineering land.

Does this guide still make you laugh? We also! Share this graphic with family and friends on your social media accounts so they can enjoy it too. Go to Visit MountaineerCountry.com/Coronavirus to view the guide in full.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, local health officials advised All American Grand Bash staff to reschedule the event. Therefore, it will host its in-person event on Saturday, July 24th instead. All previously purchased tickets will be recognized.

While we are having to adjust to the “new normal” due to COVID-19 and social distance from one another, we see many partners finding creative ways to continue hosting fun activities and events for guests and residents. For a full list of upcoming activities and celebrations, see VisitMountaineerCountry.com/Events, like Preston County Parks and Recreation’s Dirty Double Bike Race in June 2021.

The West Virginia Black Bears have officially unveiled their 2021 schedule. Support this local attraction and award-winning establishment by cheering on the home team (safely) in the stands this season, which starts May 24th. Ticket sales will officially begin at a later date, but fans can be put on the ticket waiting list this time.

VMCCVB welcomes all tourism partners to mark their calendars for their tourism partner meetings, which take place every Friday at 10:30 a.m. on a Friday. The next meeting will be on Friday, March 26th and will contain updates from West Virginia Black Bears General Manager Matt Drayer. These meetings provide public relations best practices, event updates, industry intelligence, and more. Each meeting is held via a Zoom video conference.
