Discover Puerto Rico launched an initiative called Live Out to increase the destination’s engagement with the LGBTQ community and raise awareness of Puerto Rico as a destination where travelers can party in a welcoming atmosphere.

Another initiative called Pathway to Employment addresses the challenges transsexual, queer and non-binary people face in finding and hiring jobs. Leah Chandler, Discover Puerto Rico’s chief marketing officer, said the project will provide training and resources for hiring professionals and job seekers to better connect the local hospitality industry with a more diverse community.

“Discover Puerto Rico’s core values ​​include inclusivity, agility and the importance of collaboration,” said Chandler.

“We’re promoting a travel industry that is safe and welcoming for both guests and employees,” she said. “By strengthening our position as an ally, we are making Puerto Rico welcoming to all travelers and supporting a historically excluded community.”
