Despite the record low due to the pandemic in 2020, people are climbing back to heaven.

Travel agents in Acadiana are already seeing an increase in air traffic.
Robbie Bush, director of Associated Travel, says business is picking up again despite a difficult year for the travel industry due to the pandemic.

As many states relax travel restrictions, vaccines become more available, and the weather warms up, travelers are benefiting.
“We’re seeing more people interested in traveling to the US. Certainly Lafayette and Louisiana as a state have done a really great job of providing travel destinations for people traveling from other states or planning to stay in the US.”
According to air traffic statistics from Lafayette Regional Airport, nearly 10,000 people traveled in January. This was the month with the highest trips since the pandemic.
Bush says flying isn’t the only form of transportation travelers use.
“We’ve also seen some interest in a few other things that have been driving to a location 10 hours away and 12 hours away for a period of time. We’re also seeing an interesting boost in the business of tour operators offering smaller groups in the regular transportation. The idea of not getting packed on a bus or on most flights is very attractive to people. “
Although Bush says they have regained about 30% of their customers since the pandemic began, he expects those numbers to increase as more resources become available to stop the spread of COVID-19.
“I think we’ll see that pace accelerate because of the availability of vaccinations, as well as the other software and travel benefits we see.”
