The Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA) is launching a new mental health resource for its Victorian members.

The top retail travel company will appoint a full-time mental health support resource thanks to new funding from the Victorian government.

As a result, Victorian members will soon have access to personal, tailored, and personalized services to help mitigate the pandemic’s mental health impact in small businesses.

The wider AFTA membership base and the AFTA team should also benefit from tailor-made webinars and workshops.

Recruitment for the position, which is fully funded by the Victorian Government Department of Health, is currently underway.

The funding is part of the Victorian Government’s $ 26 million Small Business Wellbeing and Mental Health Support Program funded by the Department of Jobs, Counties and Regions, administered by the Department of Health and Human Services, and Partner in Wellbeing Team at EACH. provided .

“Travel is a sector that has been heavily locked down since March 2020 and everyone who works in the travel industry, no matter where they are, has been hardest hit,” said AFTA Chairman Tom Manwaring.

“We’ve been doing it hard and have been for a year and a half, so AFTA is excited to add the Victorian Small Business Wellbeing Project to the resources that are helping us all find our way forward.”

“We know from conversations with our members that this is a particularly challenging time because of the cumulative effects of ongoing state and territory bans and the international travel ban. This additional support for the psychological well-being of our members could not have come at a better time. “
