ST. MARY’S CITY, Md. – The field hockey team at St. Mary’s College of Maryland hosted the Frostburg State University Bobcats in an exhibition game on Sunday afternoon (March 14). The Seahawks scored a 2-0 win over the Bobcats.

How it happened

  • Although it wasn’t on the scoreboard, the Seahawks dominated most of the game and kept most of the competition in their offensive end. St. Mary’s College did not find the back of the cage in the first verse, instead firing five shots compared to the Bobcats Zero. In addition, the Seahawks had the advantage in the penalty corners with 2: 1.
  • In the second quarter, the Seahawks found in the 24th minute with a goal from the back of the cage Celina Kaufman. Meghan Ronan sent a well-placed food in front of the cage for assistance. Once again the Seahawks had the advantage at 3-0. St. Mary’s College went 1-0 into halftime.
  • The Seahawks wasted little time expanding their lead to two with a goal of Hannah Dietrich in the 32nd minute. Kaufman was credited with the assistance. St. Mary’s College fired a barrage of shots in the third quarter, taking a 9-0 lead in the category.
  • The fourth quarter was goalless, but the Bobcats managed to count their only two shots in the game during the verse.

Inside the box score

  • As mentioned earlier, Kaufman and Dietrich led the Seahawks by one goal each. Kaufman also led the Seahawks five shots and three on goal. In the target, Meaghan Collins earned the win and collected two saves.
