the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs both advised against traveling to Antigua and Barbuda, Bermuda and Guyana due to COVID-19.

On Monday that CDC added the goals to its “Level 4: COVID-19 Very High” list, which discourages travel and recommends that visitors “be fully vaccinated before traveling” if they need to travel.

the Foreign Ministry followed on Tuesday, classifying Antigua and Barbuda, Bermuda and Guyana as “Level 4: Do Not Travel” destinations due to COVID-19.

The agency also advised travelers to exercise heightened caution in Guyana over violent crimes, warning that “the local police force lacks the resources to effectively respond to serious criminal incidents”.

Additionally, the Foreign Ministry advised travelers to travel to New Caledonia, Sao Tome and Principe, Kuwait, Colombia, Cambodia and Bonaire for both COVID and other reasons. It also advised increased caution in Zambia due to COVID.

The CDC assesses the risk of COVID-19 based on the new cases and the new case history of each travel destination. The travel health notification level can be increased if a sharp increase in COVID-19 cases is reported or the number of cases at a travel destination reaches or exceeds the threshold for a higher level for 14 days. Level 4 destinations have more than 500 new cases per 100,000 population in the last 28 days, or more than 500 cases if their population is less than 100,000.
