Colts Neck Football Cruises past Matawan on Fallon’s Four TDs

From Les Pierce

QB Tom Fallon splits for a touchdown run in the third quarter.

Quarterback Tom Fallon had an outstanding day of the season in as many excursions in Colts Neck’s 33-0 win against Matawan at the season opener on September 18. Fallon ran 218 yards on six carries with touchdown runs of 69, 66 and 70 yards. He went three for five in the air for 42 yards.

Second year defensive back Dom Beninato makes his second interception of the day.

Colts Neck hit the board early on a three-yard run in the first quarter of senior halfback John Manos. Fallon galloped 69 yards in the second quarter for his first touchdown of the day, creating a 13-0 half-time advantage.

The Cougars stopped the game in the second half. On their first possession, they started a 59-yard scoring drive with five games, which was crowned by a 16-yard reception from wide receiver John Runfolo.

Senior running back John Manos picked up 47 yards on eight carries and scored a touchdown.

In the Matawan series that followed, Dom Beninato, the second defender, grabbed his second interception of the day. Fallon then hiked 66 yards through the Husky secondary to the end zone on the first snap of the following offensive set.

Fallon’s last touchdown run of the afternoon came in the fourth quarter and was his longest at 70 yards. It seemed like a repetition of his previous punch that came back on the first track in the series. He reached the outside corner of the line and dashed down, then overtook three defenders to the post.
