Tasmania’s world-class tourism industry will continue to be a primary focus of our government to ensure that businesses in all parts of our state are open to visitors while supporting and securing local jobs.

We have had an incredibly tough year, but the future is bright – we have a strong plan to secure Tasmania’s future, including supporting our vital tourism industry.

We will be providing the industry with $ 8 million in innovation and development grants to help deliver key projects across the state. This is vital to ensure we have the right attractions and opportunities for visitors to continue building our reputation as a world class experience.

We are also providing $ 4 million to provide direct funding to tourism and hospitality businesses that are critical to local visitor attraction. The final evaluation of the eligibility criteria will be carried out by a panel made up of Tourism Tasmania and industry representatives. Grants of up to US $ 100,000 are available per company.

Importantly, the industry aims to become a climate neutral travel destination by 2025 in order to appeal to both domestic and international travelers. We will allocate $ 1.5 million to help tourism companies take the first step and conduct a carbon audit and find a way for them to achieve a globally recognized operating standard.

Our tourism industry is leading. Travelers from across the country want to make sure they are traveling responsibly.

The government is providing $ 3 million to attract and support the production and filming of works in Tasmania that showcase the state building on our tourism industry and brand’s marketing efforts.

We are also helping travel agencies hard hit by COVID-19 with a $ 1 million support program and providing $ 500,000 to expand the business planning support program and provide advice in a post-pandemic environment .

To shed light on our state and further support the recovery, Tourism Tasmania is launching our most aggressive winter season campaign ever, which, along with the Australian government’s initiative for discounted flights, will prepare us for a busy season.

A strong and resilient tourism industry will play a key role in our plan to secure Tasmania’s future.
