GIG HARBOR, WA – If you have an upcoming event or project that you hope will attract large crowds to Gig Harbor, the city wants to help make it happen.

On Tuesday, the city of Gig Harbor opened applications for lodging tax grants for tourism projects. Applicants only need to be non-profit organizations or institutions that attract tourists to the area and the events must take place in 2021. Past recipients of these housing tax grants include the Harbor History Museum, Gig Harbor Film Festival, and downtown Waterfront Farmers ‘Waterfront Farmers’ Market.

Recipients can earn up to $ 20,000 per application, up to $ 50,000 per year. Funding is provided by the Harbor Lodging Tax Fund, which is raised through taxes on hotels and motels within the city limits.
