Graduate Hotels will introduce its first New York hotel, the graduate Roosevelt Islandthis June. The hotel is the first hotel to be developed on the East River Island of the same name Snøhetta with clean, modern interiors from locally based businesses Stonehill Taylor and Graduate’s in-house team AJ Capital Partners.

The hotel will open next to the Cornell Tech Campus, which is also home to the island. “Guests can expect a design that creates a sense of discovery and a strong sense of place throughout the hotel,” says Krissy Melendez, Senior Concept Director of AJ Capital Partners. “With the new building and as the first hotel on the island, we had an incredible opportunity to design vantage points that had never been seen before. Drawing on the unique experience of meeting new and unexpected perspectives, we are thrilled to have created a space that is welcoming and exciting for both guests and locals. “

The facade of the 18-story building consists of faceted glass and metal panels with floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the room with plenty of daylight. The hotel’s interior with 224 keys will feature graduates’ signatures such as plaid prints, bright colors and impressive sculptures. In addition, Graduate Roosevelt Island will host an all-day dining restaurant on the ground floor, plus a rooftop bar and lounge, both indoor and outdoor. More than 3,000 square meters of conference and event space complete the amenities on site.

“The profile of the Graduate Hotel will stand like a beacon, marking the corner gate to the Cornell Tech Campus,” added Snøhetta’s director and chief architect Michael Cotton.
