GANDHINAGAR: The Islands of Beyt Dwarka, Pirotan Island and Shiyal Beyt are being developed into tourist hotspots. The fourth meeting of the island development agency took place in Gandhinagar on Friday.
According to an official statement, a development agency for the completion of tourism and infrastructure works for Rs 36 crore has been completed in Shiyal Beyt. An agency was also selected to prepare a Rs 29 billion development master plan for Beyt Dwarka. Environmentally friendly tourism projects will soon begin on the island of Pirotan, the statement said.
A maritime skills training center will soon be set up at the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Dwarka, where maritime and island-based sports skills will be incorporated into the curriculum, the declaration reads in the areas of tourism, nature education, adventure sports and fishing.
The state government announced on Friday that 47 projects – 15 in Beyt Dwarka, 20 in Shiyal Beyt and 12 in Pirotan – are being launched to convert these three islands into tourist hotspots.
There are over 140 islands in front of the 1,600 km long Gujarat Coast. The state government had previously formed the island development authority. In addition to ensuring the security of the country, the authority’s mission is economic and social economically and tourist activities on the islands.
