TORONTO and HONG KONG, June 18, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – This summer, Hong Kong’s nature will be within reach of those living abroad thanks to a series of uniquely calming sensory videos taken as part of 360 Hong Kong Moments An initiative of the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) was created, which has managed to capture the auditory essence of the city and to fill it into extremely haunting and pleasant visual experiences.

As the highlight of Great Outdoors Hong Kong’s (GOHK) summer campaign 2021-2022, four highly thematic Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR) videos will each show 30-second snapshots of dreamy environmental acoustics that can be heard in far corners of the city. The videos are intended to stimulate the senses and sharpen the sensitivity for the harmonious landscape symphonies in the immediate vicinity of the city.

ASMR in Peng Chau conjures up a ship’s horn, the chimes of a temple and the hypnotic kaucim (the shaking of lucky sticks). Swaying leaves, dripping waterfalls, chirping birds and flapping wings attract attention in ASMR in Shing Mun Reservoir. ASMR in Stanley ranges from splashing around in the ocean and opening a paper fan to biting into a piece of deliciously warm French toast at a local cha-chaan-teng diner. Finally, in Sai Kung, ASMR immerses itself in the myriad of tones and timbres of the open sea that can be encountered during a lonely stand-up paddle boarding session.

The video series, both calming and provocative, features curious individuals exploring the outskirts of Hong Kong through a hyper-focused lens, culminating in a three-minute magnum opus that combines all the contrasting elements into a wonderfully euphoric whole.

The ASMR videos are part of the wider GOHK summer campaign, which also features 13 seasonal routes that cover hiking and sightseeing destinations, island hopping routes, and water sports experiences. A particular focus is on water-based activities that are easily accessible but often overlooked by visitors who may not know the green side of Hong Kong well. In summer, we recommend kayaking and snorkeling near the Hong Kong UNESCO Global Geopark in Sai Kung, the city’s back garden.

The entire Great Outdoors Hong Kong 2021-2022 campaign is hosted on its own campaign website and is filled to the brim with useful information such as insider tips, restaurant recommendations and transport suggestions. In addition to the characteristic ASMR vignettes, the website offers a colorful mixture of photos, written travel routes and 13 videos for beginners – short videos with topics such as “adventure”, “antiquity”, “instagrammable” and “relaxation”. , provides an overview (distance, elevation gain, difficulty, duration, etc.) and experiences en route for each seasonal route to inspire future trips.
