JACKSON, MISS. – Governor Tate Reeves declared October 19-23, 2020, Mississippi Fall Storm Preparation Week.

The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) is reminding residents of the free resources being offered to ensure everyone is safe during severe weather.

“Storms are nothing new to Mississippians. This year alone, residents across the state have battled tornadoes, tropical systems, flash floods and more, ”said Melinda McGrath, PE, MDOT Executive Director. “MDOT provides free travel resources so everyone can protect themselves and their families.”

When dangerous weather conditions arise, drivers can use the free MDOT Traffic mobile app to access real-time tools that display road conditions and traffic warnings. The notification pins are interactive and offer the user more information at the push of a button. The public can also access this travel information by visiting MDOTtraffic.com.

Drivers can find tips for safe driving in bad weather at GoMDOT.com/drivesmart. You can also find information on preparing for hurricanes, tropical systems, and winter weather.
