D.despite persistent uncertainty as to whether Portugal will allow the British to visit Manchester City and Chelsea fans hoping to attend the event starting Monday Champions League final are hit by sky-high airfares.

The city of postage will host the game on May 29th after being moved from Istanbul due to Covid-19 restrictions.

Each club receives 6,000 tickets that have not yet been given out to fans, but due to popular demand, the cost of the flight to Porto has skyrocketed. Flights from Mancester to Porto next weekend – the week before the finals – are just £ 27 round-trip with Ryanair.

However, the price with Air Portugal rises to £ 573 for the weekend of the finals – an increase of 2,022 percent – and flies out on Friday and comes back on Sunday. On Skyscanner, the “Recommended” flights cost £ 467. Cheaper options include a layover and a total travel time of 22 hours and 20 minutes.

Chelsea fans face a similar dilemma. A flight from London to Porto in the week leading up to the Champions League final costs just £ 19. However, at the game, fans are beaten at £ 522 for the fastest flights – an increase of 2,647 percent.

It has been reported that if the entry ban remains in place, fans are likely to fly in organized charter planes and arrive and depart the same day.
