Kendall Williams has been named Shelby County’s next tourism and events manager, a newly created position within the county.

According to a press release, the new position will have three main priorities: planning and recruiting events, marketing and branding, and coordinating the Leadership Shelby County program.

Williams will take over from former Shelby County’s leadership coordinator Carol Bruser, who recently announced her resignation.

In her new role, Williams will be responsible for recruiting tourism events in Shelby County and the region that improve the quality of life for residents and visitors, as well as marketing, branding and promoting Shelby County, DiscoverShelby and tourism initiatives the various other amenities and assets within the county, ”the press release reads.

Williams has over 17 years of event planning, marketing, and community relations experience. Most recently, she served as the Director of Development and Community Relations for the Shelby County Schools Education Foundation on the Shelby County Schools Board of Education.

Her previous experiences include Community Liaison with America’s First Federal Credit Union, Business Development Representative with Mutual Savings Credit Union, and Marketing Manager with Enterprise Car Sales.

Williams also graduated from Leadership Shelby County in 2012 and served on the Board of Directors since June 2012. As co-chair on several program class days, she was responsible for the organization, agenda, volunteers and running of each successful day.

As Executive Director, she will be responsible for planning, coordinating and executing leadership programs for adults and youth.

Williams will begin the new role on March 29th.
