JEFFERSON – The Jefferson City Tourism Department and Marion County Chamber of Commerce have teamed up to host their first ever hot air balloon mini glow event on June 5th in Jefferson.

The co-sponsored event at Jefferson Airport is open to everyone for $ 10 per car.

“This is our first joint venture with the city’s tourism department and we have more to come,” said Paul Moore, president of the Marion County Chamber of Commerce, on Monday. “We’ll have five balloons here from the Longview hot air balloon event, and they’ll be glowing when it gets dark. This was their idea and they reached out to us with the idea of a mini glow. “

Those who want to climb into the basket of a hot air balloon and get into the air can do so for $ 20 per person.

“You will go up to 20 feet in the air in the balloon,” said Moore.

Local food trucks will also take part in the event. If you want to participate, you can still register with Moore at 318-347-5673.

“This is the same day as the Corvette Show in town, so we’ll open the airport gates at 4:30 pm and give people time to eat and get in the balloons. Then the glow will come when it gets dark. “he said.” Things will probably really get started around 5:30 pm. “

Moore said guests are welcome to bring their garden chairs or blankets, ice boxes and line up at the airport for the lights.

“We really hope the glow will attract people from all over the world to visit Jefferson,” he said.
