Pier 2 in Brooklyn Bridge Park is one of the few pop-up vaccination sites in town. It’s part of a plan the mayor announced to bring tourism back to New York. Tourists and local residents are welcome to come to this place and take their picture.

What you need to know

  • The sites offer the Johnson & Johnson vaccine
  • It’s part of an initiative to stimulate the economy in New York by bringing back tourism
  • Pop-up sites are in areas that attract many travelers

The sites will administer the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. These popup sites will be open from 1pm to 8pm this weekend. NY1 spoke to some city residents about the plan.

“So much of the economy depends on tourism. We saw that many of our restaurants are closed and there is a lot less traffic here. I think that’s good for business and good for everyone, ”said Bonnie Doyle, a resident of Boreum Hill.

“It’s hard to think of tourists when there are still New Yorkers who have been kicked out of their homes for unable to pay rent and access to vaccines, and now we’re giving tourists priority. We have to make our priorities clear, ”said park visitor Nata Andresen.

Additional pop-up locations are in Times Square, Central Park, and the High Line. The city wants to send the message that New York is a safe place.
