Christopher Newport (3-1), ranked 11th in Division III, beat visiting Pfeiffer 5-0 Sunday. Kyle Stenzel, Asher Kuzemka, LB Sutton, Barry Jones and Kobe Smith scored for CNU, which led from the 21st minute on a field that absorbed plenty of rain.

Clarkson (4-0) won 1-0 at Virginia Wesleyan (3-1), just as the Golden Knights had done Saturday at CNU. They capitalized in the 35th minute on an own goal as VWU keeper Griffin Potter slipped, allowing a back pass to roll into the net. The Marlins outshot Clarkson 17-11.

COLLEGE WOMEN’S SOCCER

Host Virginia Wesleyan (4-1) scored a trio of second-half goals to win 3-1 Sunday against Susquehanna (2-3) of Pennsylvania. Molly Gobble’s goal tied the score in the 47th minute, and Shyenne Diaz converted off Olivia Bryant assists in the 52nd and 86th minutes.

Sarah Smith and Natalie Swarm scored twice apiece as top-ranked CNU (4-0-1) earned its third victory in a row, and its first by more than one goal, by cruising 6-0 over Methodist (2-2-1 ). The host Captains led 3-0 in barely more than 16 minutes and outshot the Monarchs 28-4.

Georgetown (3-1-3) won 3-0 against William & Mary (2-4-1) in Washington. Gia Vacari had a goal and an assist and Maya Alcantara had two assists for the Hoyas, who outshot the Tribe 21-2, necessitating nine saves by W&M goalkeeper Zoe Doughty.

COLLEGE FIELD HOCKEY

No. 21 William & Mary (5-1) came from behind to win 2-1 at No. 16 Duke (2-3), thanks to Lauren Curran’s penalty stroke in the 36th minute and Allison Goodwin’s goal off a penalty corner in the 44th. The Blue Devils held a 17-6 advantage in shots, but Tribe goalkeeper Maddie George came through with five saves.

Courtney Lynch knocked in a pass from Emily Tammaro in the 45th minute to lift No. 14 Old Dominion (5-1) to a 2-1 victory at Richmond (3-2). The Spiders went ahead in the ninth minute on Lindsey Frank’s goal, but Delphine Le Jeune’s penalty stroke in the 20th minute pulled the Monarchs even. They eventually extended their victory streak to five.

Emily Evans scored a hat trick as CNU (4-1) hiked his winning streak to three by routing Concordia of Wisconsin 9-1 in Newport News. Emma Logue and Delaney Norr each had a goal and an assist as the Captains outshot their visitors 48-4.
