The planned move of the Nottingham Travel Center from Victoria Bus Station along with the renovation of the Tourist Information Center on the Old Market Square will help create an “exciting new tourist center”, according to the city’s tourism bosses.

They say the travel hub’s new central location will be more convenient and accessible for locals and tourists alike, encouraging them to use Nottingham’s public transport system and also helping to increase visitor numbers for the tourism hub and surrounding businesses .

The work also includes a renovation of the tourist center. Robin Hood will play a prominent role in the displays, and the makeover will help showcase the recently revamped range of over 250 artisanal products and souvenirs, many of which were made by local, independent companies. The new ranges include environmentally friendly products with low CO2 emissions, upcycling products, souvenirs and gifts.

While the tourist center is currently closed due to the nationwide lockdown, it is to be hoped that the renovation will increase visitor numbers if it is allowed to reopen.

Tourist Board Visit Nottinghamshire is redesigning its website to incorporate the TXGB digital marketplace so visitors can book direct for attractions, experiences and hotels. The company has also launched a new Nottingham toolkit that other companies can use to promote the city to visitors.

Kinga Kapias, Marketing and Communications Manager at Visit Nottinghamshire, said: “We are delighted to welcome the Travel Center to the Nottingham Tourism Center. The tourist center will become a one-stop shop for visitors who can now purchase transport tickets, tickets to events and activities, learn all about Nottinghamshire and buy Nottingham and Nottingham Forest-themed souvenirs for FC merchandise.

“The renovation and relocation of the travel center will help transform our tourism center into an exciting new tourist center in the middle of the action on the Old Market Square.”

Simon Redgate, Manager of the Nottingham Tourism Center, said: “As online services and apps become more popular, many people – not least tourists – want to make their travel arrangements in person the old-fashioned way.

“Moving the travel center to this prime downtown location in our tourist hub will help make Nottingham’s award-winning public transport system as accessible as possible to both our visitors and residents.

“It is expected that the number of visitors will continue to grow on one of the already busiest streets in Nottingham, which before the coronavirus pandemic had almost 100,000 visitors per week in the peak months. We carry information and inspiration about everything that visitors to do and see in Nottinghamshire. “
