US flights start on 17th of September

TORONTO, July 5, 2021 / CNW / – Porter Airlines is officially back in the air September 8th, almost 18 months after ceasing flights due to COVID-19 in public health and travel restrictions.

The flight plan returns in phases, with the first group being Canadian destinations Halifax, Moncton, Montreal, Ottawa, Quebec, St. John’s, NL, Thunder Bay and Toronto. Destinations in the USA in Boston, Chicago, new York and Washington consequences 17th of September.

“This is the moment our team members, passengers and the communities we serve have been waiting for,” said Michael Deluce, President and CEO, Porter Airlines. “The pandemic is so advanced that we can now begin restoring service across our network, centered on our main base at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. Being on the ground for more than a year was incredibly difficult for everyone involved. In true Porter fashion, our team members have demonstrated a remarkable level of dedication, commitment, and optimism during this uncertain time, even though the vast majority have been unable to work. While the decision to suspend our service was the toughest business decision we made, announcing a flight restart is the first step in a recovery process that includes recalling hundreds of team members and greeting returned passengers. We look forward to offering Porter’s unique service again. “

Approximately 500 team members will be recalled to active status when the first phase of flights is introduced. In the following months, more employees will be added as soon as flights and destinations are added to the flight plan again.
