Robert Long threw five touchdown passes and rushed for one as third-seeded St. Peter’s Prep, No. 3 in the NJ.com top 20, downed 14th-seeded Notre Dame 57-22 in the first round of the NJSIAA/Rothman Orthopedics Non-Public A playoffs at Jersey City.

Long got St. Peter’s Prep (7-3) on the board in the first quarter with a 16-yard run before Tyler Bell’s two-point conversion run the Marauders up 8-0. However, Notre Dame (6-5) was able to tie the game following a 41-yard strike from AJ Surace to Christian Pawar and a two-point conversion run from Ta’Sean Powell.

From that point on, it was all St. Peter’s Prep as it scored 42 unanswered points to take a 50-8 lead entering the fourth quarter.

As a team, the Marauders finished with 556 yards of total offense with 335 coming through the air and 221 on the ground. Hassan Moore led the team with six receptions for 115 yards and two touchdowns while Isaiah Giles had seven carries for 87 yards.

Surace finished 9-for-29 for 148 yards and two touchdowns for Notre Dame while Wyatt Moore had five receptions for 86 yards and a score. Ta’Sean Powell tallied 19 carries for 88 yards.

St. Peter’s Prep will face the winner of St. Joseph (Met.)/Delbarton in the quarterfinals next Saturday.
