“Our water protection promise is available in tourist visitor centers all over the coast from Lund to Langdale.”

Sunshine Coast Tourism (SCT) recently launched a new initiative: Sustainable Sunshine Coast.

“The aim is to support companies, visitors and residents in taking simple measures that reduce our ecological footprint and raise awareness through the profiling of tourism managers,” said SCT Managing Director Paul Kamon in a press release.

The Sunshine Coast Tourism Growth Management Committee, which deals with the key themes of the 10-year Sunshine Coast Destination Development Plan, selected two priority areas this summer.

According to the press release, water conservation is an area because it is becoming increasingly scarce and a critical resource for everyone.

“Our water protection promise is in tourist visitor centers all over the coast from Lund to Langdale or from. available Sunshinecoastcanada.com/sustainable“, It says in the press release. “In three simple steps: look at the water consumption so far, choose your goals and take action.”

Greener transportation decisions were the second area chosen.

“On foot, bike or bus; We urge everyone to make greener choices for just one weekly trip you take, ”said Kamon. “It’s a great way to help us rethink our modes of transport.

“Transport is a challenge on the coast. But more and more visitors come by bike and locals also choose it. With alternative transport options, the project offers tips and resources.

According to the press release, current market research shows a strong increase in visitor interest in sustainable travel destinations, with visitors choosing travel destinations with a low ecological footprint.

“It saves business costs over the long term, reduces waste and gives restaurants, accommodations and other operators the opportunity to demonstrate early adoption to capture a fast-growing market for more sustainable services and products,” said Kamon. “Pick up free print material at local visitor centers while there is enough.”

Sunshine Coast Tourism offers participating businesses communications through unified messaging, including free stickers for accommodations, restaurants, and cafes; a website with information and links to local services; Tips and support for business operations, visitors, and locals; an online pledge and brief survey to collect feedback; and business support in the fight against water conservation and greener transportation across sustainable@sunshinecoastcanada.com.

“If we turn this pandemic around the corner, climate change will remain a top priority,” said Kamon. “We invite everyone to contribute to the protection of natural and cultural resources on the coast by doing their part.

“We want to be attentive and solemn – after all, we live in one of the most beautiful places in the world. Let’s enjoy it and take good care. “
