The New Orleans Pelicans have had another disappointing season. It has led to rumors playing forward Zion Williamson is not happy about the direction of the organization and could request a trade at some point.

The background here is a lack of interest in the local pelicans in the bayou. This has also led to widespread speculation that relocation is an option.

“With the team only committed to their lease in The Big Easy through 2024, sources consistently mention New Orleans as the most likely team to move in the next decade.” John Hollinger from The Athletic noticed recently.

While NBA viewership has been skewed for the past two seasons due to the COVID-19 pandemic, things haven’t been going well for the New Orleans Pelicans in that regard.

Pelicans owner Gayle Benson has ties to New Orleans as she is also the director of the NFL’s New Orleans Saints – a hugely successful professional franchise. Even then, the billionaire is not interested in losing money. It doesn’t help that these pelicans are the second largest franchise in the NBA according to the latest version Forbes estimates.
