Viking announced today that it will operate a third ship in the Mediterranean this summer.

Viking Star will now conduct a new 11-day round trip from Valletta, Malta called Malta & the Western Mediterranean in the region with sister ships Viking Sea and Venus.

The itinerary begins with an overnight stay in Valletta before heading to Sicily, Italy, and Spain, calling at Messina, Naples, Civitavecchia (the port for Rome), Livorno, Genoa, and Barcelona.

With this new trip, travelers now have three new ways to experience the Mediterranean with Viking from July to early October.

Those on the Malta & Adriatic Jewels route will stay overnight in Valletta before sailing to Montenegro and Croatia and calling Kotor, Dubrovnik, Split, Zadar and Šibenik before heading back to the Maltese archipelago for one on the island of Gozo To make a stopover.

Guests sailing the discovery route from Malta and the Greek Islands will also stay in Valletta and then sail to Greece to call Kalamata, Athens, Santorini, Rhodes and Souda Bay.

Today’s news of the addition of another Mediterranean route for 2021 follows recent announcements of other Welcome Back voyages in England. Iceland, Bermuda, and the Mediterranean, that started this month. Vikings European river cruises will resume in early July.

Viking’s Welcome Back cruises, including these newly announced itineraries aboard Viking Star, are only open to fully vaccinated passengers.
