LAS VEGAS – Virgin Hotels Las Vegas has a new opening date.

The resort on the former Hard Rock site will open on March 25th.

“Today we’re not only celebrating the fact that we can finally welcome guests back to the most exciting resort to open in Las Vegas in years, but we’re getting our team members back to work,” said Richard Bosworth, CEO of JC Hospitality – owners of Virgin Hotels Las Vegas – in a statement Thursday.

The new opening date comes exactly a month after the company announced the debut delayed due to COVID-19.

The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino was closed for renovation work after the Super Bowl in February 2020 and was renamed the Virgin Hotel after the purchase.

The hotel was slated to open on January 15, but the pandemic derails those plans.

Billionaire and founder of the Virgin Group, Richard Branson, bought the property with a group of partners including Los Angeles-based investment firm Juniper Capital Partners. The terms of the purchase of Brookfield Asset Management were not disclosed.

Branson, who previously roped down a casino hotel and got on a jet ski in the fountain in front of the Bellagio Casino Resort to promote his business, promised an “equally fun” event for the hotel’s official launch.
