With a winter storm on the finger lakes, several schools postponed the start times of their university competitions on Monday evening. Like most evenings this season, it was an unpredictable evening of close competition on a heavy list of games with 24 teams in action.

One of the top stories of the night is Pal-Mac’s ongoing standout game when they presented the Geneva Panthers with their first loss of the season in Palmyra. Not to be outdone, the Wayne Eagles cruised over Mynderse in Seneca Falls for a showdown on Friday night with their northwestern rival, Wayne County’s Red Raiders. Both teams will be back in action on Wednesday.

Waterloo also recorded his first win in the Finger Lakes East Boys League at the expense of Marcus Whitman, who dropped his first competition when a late comeback failed. Penn Yan followed Newark around the clock early in his game at Penn Yan Academy before charging back to claim his first win of the season and send the Reds off to a 4-0 start.

In Finger Lakes West, the Naples Big Green took overtime to beat rival Honeoye and land a 21-game losing streak for the program.

Along with Gabby Trippi from Honeoye, who scored a triple-double (20 points, 17 reb, 10 blks) in the Lady Bulldogs victory against Naples, Waterloo’s street win in Midlakes was the biggest news of the night in girls’ basketball that kept the Indians unbeaten on the Season.
