Swansea Mayhill Riot: Everything We Know So Far

Cars were set on fire, houses destroyed and police attacked in major disturbance in Mayhill, Swansea Thursday night.

Hundreds of people were involved in the disorder, which began around 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 20. The police believed they started as a “vigil” for someone who had died.

Crowds were seen singing and cheering on Thursday evening when a car was pushed down a steep hill into bollards and another vehicle while another car was set on fire. Photos show two burning cars in the middle of the road surrounded by smoke as the crowd gathered around them.

Devastating images also show residents’ cars fully lit and extensive damage to nearby properties.

That’s all we know so far.
