ANN ARBOR – Senior athlete Stephanie McClendon worked for Whitmore Lake last week, and readers are sure to notice.
McClendon helped lead the Trojans to a win over Lutheran Westland on Tuesday May 11 by dominating as the pitcher and making an impression on the plate.
The 5-foot-7 athlete knocked out 10 batters and added two RBIs to the win. He was named the Ann Arbor Area Athlete of the Week nominee for the week of May 15-20.
The stellar performance enabled McClendon to drive to the AOTW Honor when readers picked her over against Chelsea softball thrower Emilee Underwood, who finished second in the vote.
The poll topped more than 26,000 votes – most this spring – and McClendon received 52% of the total vote to secure the honor.
