Bland County will be launching a tourism website next week.

Cameron Burton, the county community services director who oversees the library and tourism, said www.visitbland.com will officially start on July 16th.

Paid by a $ 10,000 grant from Virginia Tourism, the site will feature tourism information and highlight seasonal events to attract people from outside the area to Bland County to see what it has to offer, Burton said.

Burton said the website will focus on the Wolf Creek Indian Village and Museum as a top Bland County travel destination, along with the Eupepsia Wellness Center, hiking trails, and outdoor activities. The website will also contain information on accommodation and restaurants.

Recently, Burton posted a phone call asking residents for photos of the county that could be used on the website. She said the response was “outstanding”.

“I was looking for content, nice pictures in different seasons of different activities that we might be able to use on the site,” she said. To submit a photo, use Facebook Messenger to send it to the Bland Co. Public Library. Email the photo to cburton@bland.org or hand it in at the library.

Burton said the county hired William Alexander of Roanoke to design, set up and implement the website.
