After calling at the Costa Smeralda weekly in May and June, Cagliari Cruise Port announced that it has welcomed the first call of another Costa ship, the Costa Firenze, on its very first cruise route.

At the invitation of the captain, the local authorities took part in the ceremony of changing the coat of arms on board, which was also attended by the management of the cruise port of Cagliari.

“The Costa Firenze is the new flagship of Costa Cruises, the largest Italian cruise company, which is again focusing on Cagliari to fascinate its passengers with its magical routes in the Mediterranean. For Cagliari Cruise Port, this call is an important demonstration of the centrality of the Sardinian port not only for the shipowner but also within the panorama of the Italian cruise ports ”, said Antonio Di Monte, General Manager of Cagliari Cruise Port.

The Costa Firenze was built by Fincantieri and delivered with a live streaming ceremony last December. The departure was originally scheduled for late February, but the pandemic forced the company to postpone it to July.

The ship was christened at the inauguration of its first route in Savona, the interior design of the ship is inspired by the Florentine Renaissance while offering strong environmental performances and technological innovations.

The Costa ship will make a voyage across the western Mediterranean throughout the summer.

Safety, health and prevention are guaranteed on board by the Costa Safety Protocol, while the anti-contagion rules introduced by the Cagliari Cruise Port are in effect on land.

At the end of 2016, Cagliari Cruise Port became part of the Global Ports Holding (GPH) network.
