JACKSON, miss. (AP) – Jackson Police are investigating a hotel shootout that killed two people.
A police officer was involved in the shooting early Sunday morning at the Olive Tree Hotel near Interstate 55, media reported.
Officials called into the hotel found a victim of a gunshot wound, police said. He has been identified as Josh Casaus.
Police say the suspect in that shootout – Dishawn Sanders – started shooting at officers. An officer returned fire and killed Sanders, police said.
Police said they did not immediately identify a motive for Casaus’ murder and few other details were released.
