  3. The Chairman of the African Tourism Board, Cuthbert Ncube, discussed a way to develop the travel and tourism industry in Mother Africa after COVID-19 and finds open arms.

As part of his planned interaction with the Ivorian tourism stakeholders, the Chairman of the African Tourism Board (ATB), Mr. Cuthbert, met today with the National Association of the Ivory Coast Hotel Industry. He shared ATB’s vision of renaming the tourism sector to Côte d’Ivoire.

As the leading country in the West African Economic and Monetary Union, Côte d’Ivoire alone accounts for 45% of the GDP of the eight countries mentioned. It underlines the economic power that the country represents in the region.

The meeting was attended by the chairman of the FNIH-CI, Mr. LOLO Diby Cleophas with some of his close associates, and Mr. Joseph GRAH, the new ATB ambassador to Côte d’Ivoire.

During the meeting, the chairman of the ATB thanked the audience for the warm welcome.

He presented the ATB’s vision to rename tourism and rewrite a new history of the African continent in the face of world conditions.

The aim is to reposition Africa as the best travel destination for tourists in the aftermath of the COVID19 pandemic.

“Africa is the motherland of humanity,” said Ncube.

Hence, the purpose of his visit to Ivory Coast was to encourage all Ivorian stakeholders to band together and support this golden vision .

Ncube said: Africa must be one to achieve this golden vision. Above all, it is important to break through the boundaries and mindsets that make Africans dependent on Western policies and prevent them from reaching their own destiny. “

The chairman of the FNIH-CI, Mr LOLO Diby Cleophas, thanked Mr Cuthbert Ncube for the sacrifice made for this trip to Côte d’Ivoire, despite the risks of the CODID19 pendemic.

He also believed this was an opportunity for tourism actors to rethink the tourism sector and rename it under the new auspices of an organization like ATB, which appears to have strong leadership.

Mr. Cuthbert was a former prominent UNWTO official for its affiliate program. The patron of the organization, Dr. Taleb Rifai, was a two-year Secretary General of the UNWTO.

Meanwhile, the meeting highlighted the main challenges facing tourism in Africa. These include the expensive airfares, the lack of direct connections between African countries, the underdeveloped domestic and medical tourism that could bring great benefits to governments. Ncube and Cleophas also agreed on the lack of a coherent and synchronized tourism policy that should regulate tourism in Africa.

With this in mind, the ATB chairman appealed to the National Association of the Ivory Coast Hotel Industry to join forces with ATB in the struggle for a great victory and the splendor of Africa as a common motherland.

Finally, the chairman, Mr. LOLO Diby Cleophas, officially declared the registration of his organization FNIH-CI as a target member of the African Tourism Board on behalf of his colleagues and promised to keep in touch with the ATB ambassador, Mr. Joseph GRAH, in order to develop further Relationship.

Ivory Coast agreed on an operational strategy to better promote tourism in line with ATB’s vision and guidelines.
