On November 30, the Canadian government announced updates to international travel and new testing requirements for air travelers entering Canada from a country other than the United States.

In the coming days, all fully vaccinated travelers arriving by air from locations other than the United States will undergo an arrival test at the airport where they land. Fully vaccinated travelers must be quarantined while waiting for the results of their arrival test.

Unvaccinated travelers with entry rights to Canada will continue to be tested on arrival and on the 8th day, and will be quarantined for 14 days. However, passengers arriving by plane must now be in a designated quarantine facility or other suitable location while waiting for the result of their arrival test.

There is no cost to the traveler for these PCR tests on arrival.

In response to the omicron variant, Canada has also temporarily introduced new travel restrictions for arriving travelers from certain countries. As of December 1st, foreigners who have stayed in one of the included countries within the last 14 days will no longer be allowed to enter Canada. See the list here.
