Riverside-San Bernardino-Ontario ranks 27th out of 37 Best Warm Winter Vacation Destinations

When you think of winter vacation destinations, do you think of cold weather, skiing and hot cocoa, or sun-kissed beaches, surfing and umbrella drinks?

If you are looking for a warm weather destination, San Diego and San Francisco at the top of the list.

San Diego is on California’s Pacific coast, known for its beaches, parks, and warm climate. Immense Balboa Park is home to the renowned San Diego Zoo as well as numerous art galleries, artist studios, museums and gardens. A deep harbor is home to a large active naval fleet, including the USS Midway, an aircraft carrier museum that is open to the public.

San Francisco is a popular tourist destination and is known for its cool summers, fog, steep hills, an eclectic mix of architecture and attractions including the Golden Gate Bridge, Cable Cars, the former Alcatraz Federal Prison, Fisherman’s Wharf and the Chinatown neighborhood.

It was one of the coldest winters in years with lots of rainfall, they say latest forecast From the Old Farmer’s Almanac, WalletHub today published its report on the best winter vacation destinations for 2021.

WalletHub focused on cost and convenience rather than scenic beauty, comparing nearly 70 of the largest U.S. metropolitan areas, grouped by warm and cold weather. Each destination was analyzed on the basis of 39 key metrics, primarily the cost and effort of getting to each location, but also other indicators such as weather forecast, safety and diverse activities.

Best vs. worst

  • The average flight to a popular cold winter destination costs $ 359.92, takes 3 hours and 19 minutes, and has 0.22 connections. By comparison, the average flight to a popular warm winter destination costs $ 458.43, takes 5 hours and 35 minutes, and has 0.48 connections.
  • Among the coldest destinations, Louisville, Kentucky has the lowest price for a three-star hotel room, $ 43, which is 2.8 times lower than Worcester, Massachusetts, the highest-priced city of $ 119.
  • Among the warm travel destinations, Augusta, Georgia has the lowest price for a three-star hotel room, $ 43, which is 3.9 times lower than Honolulu, the highest-priced city of $ 168.
  • Chicago has the most restaurants (per square root of population) among the coldest destinations, 6.05.2004, 6.3 times more than Bridgeport, Connecticut, the city with the lowest 0.964293.
  • Among the warm destinations, Orlando has the most restaurants (per square root of population), 7,246160, 28.7 times more than Deltona, Florida, the city with the lowest 0.252768.
