4 things to consider while planning to travel under Malaysia’s Langkawi Travel Bubble (LTB)

The following guidelines cover the pre-arrival, arrival, stay, and departure procedures that travelers must go through before continuing their Langkawi Travel Bubble (LTB) travel plans.

The Immigration Service of Malaysia (Jabatan Imigresen Malaysia), published a list of travel policies on December 10th (Friday)-From pre-arrival procedures to arrival, stay and departure – for travelers involved in the Langkawi Travel Bubble (LTB).

These latest LTB guidelines are more detailed compared to previously by Malaysia’s Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin. announcedwhich mainly covered the requirements for COVID-19 testing.

The SOPs for using the Langkawi Travel Bubble are as follows:

# 1 Before arriving

Vaccination status

  • Travelers must provide a certificate stating that they are fully vaccinated and ready.
  • Travelers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a fully vaccinated legal guardian.

Testing

  • Travelers are required to undergo a reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test two days prior to departure for Langkawi, Malaysia.
  • Travelers must print out and have the RT-PCR test results ready.

MySejahtera app

  • Travelers must have the Malaysia MySejahtera app downloaded on their mobile devices to enable contact tracking.
  • Travelers must complete the MySejahtera travel declaration form.

insurance

  • Travelers must be covered by COVID-19 travel insurance worth $ 80,000 for their entire stay in Langkawi, Malaysia.

Visa

  • Travelers who require a visa to enter and stay in Malaysia must apply for one.

passport

  • Travelers must ensure that the passport is valid for at least six months.

flight tickets

  • Travelers must have prepared and confirmed a return ticket.

Accommodation & itinerary

  • Travelers must draw up a detailed travel plan (ETA / ETD).
  • Travelers must have accommodations and tours prepared and approved with licensed guides from the Malaysian Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture.

# 2 On arrival

Testing

  • Passing through travelers must undergo an RT-PCR test at Kuala Lumpur International Airport 1 (KLIA 1) and allow five to six hours of transit time before connecting to a domestic flight to Langkawi.
  • Travelers arriving directly in Langkawi must undergo an RT-PCR test at Langkawi International Airport (LIA).

Only travelers with a negative test result can proceed with the Langkawi Travel Bubble.

# 3 Stay

For a three to seven day stay

  • Travelers must stay in Langkawi, Malaysia.
  • Travelers must undergo a professional RTK antigen (RTK-Ag) test on the third and fifth day of their stay.
  • Travelers must take a self-rapid antigen test (RT-Ag) on ​​the second, fourth and sixth day of their stay and report the test results themselves via the MySejahtera app.

If you stay longer than seven days (this includes leaving Langkawi)

  • Travelers must undergo a professional RTK antigen (RTK-Ag) test on the third and fifth day of their stay.
  • Travelers must take a self-rapid antigen test (RT-Ag) on ​​the second, fourth and sixth day of their stay and report the test results themselves via the MySejahtera app.
  • Travelers are required to undergo an RT-PCR test two days prior to departure from Langkawi, Malaysia.

Travelers must note that they are only allowed to leave Langkawi after a seven-day stay. In addition, only travelers with a negative test result can proceed with the LTB and travel further to other parts of Malaysia.

# 4 departure

Testing

  • Travelers must undergo required home countries COVID-19 tests before leaving Langkawi, Malaysia.
  • Travelers must note that only people who tested negative can travel to their home country.
