The Middlebury womens basketball team (3-2) put in a dominant performance at Pepin Gym on Tuesday, driving past NVU-Lyndon 86-38. The Panthers have a quick turnaround and host Eastern Nazarene at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Hornets (3-1) travel to UMaine-Farmington for a tip at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Knotted 2-2, Middlebury went on a 16-2 run, took an 18-4 advantage and finished off a layup of Augusta Dixon with 2:31 remaining. The Panthers scored 10 more points in the opening frame to go into the second quarter with 26: 9.

Middlebury continued the offensive pressure after the break and took the lead with a layup of 25 points (38-13) Bethany Lucey at 3:21 a.m. The Panthers ended the first half with a 46:19 lead.

Middlebury opened the third verse with a 12-3 run, 58-22 with 5:16 remainder. Claire Miller and Alexa Mustafaj each scored four points during the span. Faith Poirier converted two free throws and Nyah Garner hit a jumper to make it 58-26 the next minute. The Panthers responded with a 9-2 sprint, crowned by a Mustafaj jumper, before a Hornet Lea Crompton jumper made 67:30 at break.

In the final frame, Middlebury ran away with the game for the 86-38 final.

Mustafaj scored 27 points in the game, shooting 12-14 off the floor to score four steals while Miller had 12 points and four steals. Emily Downer recorded 13 points during the victory while Gianna Palli led all players with 11 rebounds.

Crompton beat NVU-Lyndon by 13 points and four rebounds, while Saleena Porter got in with eight points and snapped four boards.
