Before the pandemic, daily housekeeping was the norm in most hotels. But Hilton decided to get rid of its automatic daily cleaning service, USA Today reports. Instead, the company will only offer the service to guests upon request. This new policy will take effect in some hotels on July 5th.

“Our guests have told us that they feel differently at ease with someone enter their rooms after check-in, “Hilton said in a statement from Travel Weekly.” We encourage guests to call the front desk to request housekeeping and our team members are on hand to help with any extra towels or amenities.

While Hilton says this is an attempt meet the needs of the guests by making their stay as “undisturbed as possible”, not all guests are happy to re-enter the travel room with this change. Las Vegas resident Ryan Pulliam told USA Today that his recent stay at the Hotel del Coronado, a beachfront resort owned by Hilton Worldwide Holdings Inc., was “disappointing” at times because of the change, resulting in a room with no clean towels, an unmade bed, and sandy floors.

“[It] was just a disappointment, “Pulliam told the news agency.” When such little things don’t happen, this experience takes away. It was something to worry about – do we have enough towels? – or wherever we go and have more fun on the trip. “

However, the tightened cleaning practices that were put in place during the pandemic will continue to be in place before you check into your room. According to Hilton, all rooms in its hotels are thoroughly cleaned before check-in. For longer stays, a thorough deep cleansing is carried out every fifth day. In addition to normal cleaning practices, the company has partnered with Reckitt, the makers of Lysol & Dettol, to provide additional disinfection for high-contact surfaces in its hotel rooms.

“When you arrive, you can rest assured that the room is clean and ready for your stay,” the company assures on its website.
