According to a recent poll, Palm Springs is named “America’s Best Cities for a Quickie” by hotwire.com.
The desert city ranked second after Savannah, Georgia Itty Bitty Cities or that of 150,000 people or less. Two years ago, Palm Springs cracked the ranking in 7th place. The city was not rated in 2020.
New York has received the highest awards among the major metropolises (more than 600,000 inhabitants); Atlanta, Georgia was # 1 for mid-sized must-sees (populations between 300,000 and 599,000), and Orlando, Florida was first in the small town group (residents between 150,000 and 299,000).
According to a Hotwire poll, an overwhelming 75 percent of Americans want to travel more to catch up on trips they couldn’t take in the past 18 months. The vast majority of respondents (83 percent) strive for quick, spontaneous trips to meet their travel needs.
Not only are last-minute “quickie” trips of 2-3 night less stressful to plan, 79 percent said they provide opportunities to enhance a getaway, including:
- 41 percent would add fun and active experiences to their travel routes
- 35 percent would treat themselves to an expensive meal
- 29 percent would be pampered with a massage or wellness treatment

Wakefield Research conducted the Hotwire survey of 1,000 nationwide representative adults in the United States aged 18 and over. between August 27 and September 2, 2021, using an email invitation and an online survey.
