This issue has been brought to the attention of the National Security Council through complaints from internet users and the proposal is being refined to possibly allow it, DPM Ismail said.

Couples and families in Malaysia could soon meet loved ones in all states if they are fully vaccinated with two doses, Malaysia’s Deputy Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaacob said on July 22 (Friday).

On Facebook, DPM Ismail shared how he has been exposed to many internet users “voicing their complaints” about the effects of interstate travel bans on families and long-distance relationships.

“As a father, I am aware of the importance of the family as an institution.

“For safety reasons, too, a mother or father should not be forced to separate from their children for too long. Especially if the parents have already received two doses of the vaccine, ”said the Deputy Prime Minister.

As such, he said, this is an issue that the National Security Council (Majlis Keselamatan Negara or MKN) wants to address as soon as possible and has some “flexibility” for those who are already fully vaccinated.

“The government is refining this proposal to allow long-distance couples and families to reunite,” said DPM Ismail.

According to a report by The starPrime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin previously said that the government is actually trying to relax COVID-19 restrictions on those fully vaccinated with two doses. This would mean that people could potentially travel and dine in restaurants and eateries; have more normalcy according to PM Muhyiddin
