NORTHWEST ANGLE, Minn. – A company hopes to make it easier for cabin owners and resort visitors to travel to the Northwest Angle.

The Northwest Angle is only accessible by land via Canada, and only permanent residents can take this route due to pandemic border restrictions.

Resorts, restaurants, and cabin owners have two options: a long boat ride or a plane trip.

Lake Country Air, a local airline, said their new connection from Baudette or Warroad to the Northwest Corner is in high demand.

The company doesn’t just help tourism and summer home owners.

“You know, it is and important that we can also help in emergency situations. Because in an emergency, the only option right now is to drive across the lake or wait for a medical evacuation,” said Jesse Starkson, owner and manager of Lake Country Air.

The company hopes to get its spring service up and running in just a few weeks.
