We’ve already heard the NBA rumors pointing to a fight New Orleans Pelicans team could move Lonzo Ball and JJ Redick. It makes sense. The team sits between 7am and 11am in the season and needs to find the right mix to work with Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram.

With the NBA trading deadline now less than two months away, the water cooler talk is getting hotter as it is a possible redick trade with the pelicans. Three Eastern Conference contenders are among those being talked about.

According to Shams Charaniawho have favourited Nets, Celtics and Sixers are on the Veteran Sniper Station.

“With February 2nd as the deadline for the NBA to round up the acquired players in a later trade, the New Orleans Pelicans have been focusing on the Philadelphia 76ers, Brooklyn Nets and Boston Celtics as potential trading targets for JJ Redick,” he said NBA insider.

As mentioned earlier, February 2nd is the deadline for teams that added players in the past off-season to be grouped into trades. Until then, it has to be a player-for-player swap with no other moving parts. With the move of 36-year-old Redick before Tuesday, the possibilities of the pelicans are more widespread.

Redick is an Orlando Magic first choice in 2006 and is in the middle of an off-season. The former Duke star only shoots 30% out of three-point range. This is alarming as he is a 41% shooter from a distance.

Even then, NBA rumors linking Redick to competitors make sense. In the past, Redick has proven to be an important outside gear. The fights through the first 16 games of the 2020-21 season do not change that.

Counting $ 13 million against the cap in the final year of his current contract, Redick is a valuable asset. Not only can he provide the ability to fire from the outside, but a competing team can seduce New Orleans with a longer-term contract and draft pick compensation in return.

After the recent takeover of James Harden, the networks were able to offer themselves injured security guard Spencer Dinwiddie and several second round picks. Boston has more options as it can seduce the pelicans with a 2021 first-round pick and studly guard Marcus Smart.

Redick also played for the 76ers from 2017-19, which means they have a solid relationship there. Perhaps payrollers like Mike Scott and Terrance Ferguson and young security guard Shake Milton could do something.
