Ocean Hotels Group, the family-run collection of hotels and resorts in Barbados, celebrates the opening of O2 Beach Club & Spa, a new 5-star all-inclusive luxury boutique resort in St. Lawrence Gap on the south coast of Barbados.

After months of remodeling the previous Ocean Two Resort & Residences and adding 42 new suites with ocean and ocean views to the property, the new resort was aptly named “O2”, as an allusion to the symbol of oxygen, the element as natural and vital as the Act of breathing. The O2 Beach Club & Spa has 130 luxurious rooms and suites in three different “Collections“: Club, Luxury and Concierge. Guests can enjoy the variety of resort amenities with three picturesque pools including one of the few pools on the island’s roof, six dining experiences, seven bars with the new Brisa rooftop lounge and the full Service Acqua Spa, inspired by oSea Malibu and with the only hamman treatments in Barbados.

The Club Collection rooms have king-size or twin beds with en-suite bathrooms and invigorating rain showers, while the Luxury Collection consists of adults-only suites with chic, contemporary design and private balconies overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Luxury Collection options include suites with ocean or ocean views, as well as adult-only swim-up rooms with direct access to the river pool, where guests also have easy access to H2O, the new swim-up bar. The Concierge Collection offers more spacious luxury with one and two bedroom suites and fully equipped designer kitchens.

The resort hired local Caribbean designer Michelle Leotaud to bring the vision of authentic Caribbean laid-back luxury to life and create a real feel for the place. The Trinidad-based interior designer and director of Apple and iron concepts made it a priority to make guests feel like they were in the Caribbean and Barbados in particular. There are natural elements throughout the hotel, including wood, marble and leaf motifs, which can be found on the headboards of the king-size rooms, in the lobbies and in the public areas. Michelle tried to buy as much as possible from local vendors and hired bayan artists to make original pieces and prints for the guest rooms and suites.

The breathtaking novelty of the resort waterfall Spa offers the only hammam treatment room on Barbados Island and breathtaking ocean views from its eighth floor. Acqua’s signature treatments are inspired by healing through water. Guests can experience personalized wellness trips, and all treatments offered at the Acqua are infused with algae This is Products.
