MICHIGAN (WNDU) – Downtown St. Joseph and New Buffalo begin turning COVID upside down as local stores reopen to business.

Forte Coffee recently opened in St. Joseph and looks forward to welcoming customers in-store and building a relationship with them.

“You love to come to Forte Coffee and let us call you by name,” said Bryan Maynard, owner of Forte Coffee. “And know what kind of drink they want.”

“We have a system in which we can set up an account for you. People come in and we just make their regular drink and debit their account. They want them to know things, ”he said.

New Buffalo also revitalizes businesses with customers eager to come out and show their support.

“I think it’s great to come here and see everything go back to normal,” said Linnea Kirkham, the frequent visitor to New Buffalo. “There are people waiting in line. And it’s nice to see them without their masks. “

And the locals expect it to only get better when summer approaches quickly.

“I know I heard that many restaurants lifted the mask requirement on July 1st,” she said. “So I assume that now when we go to restaurants we won’t need the masks. So I assume it will be a lot busier. “
