NORFOLK – The executive director of the Nebraska Tourism Commission, John Ricks, visited Norfolk on Monday as part of National Travel and Tourism Week.

Ricks passed over the bright spots of last year, amid the coronavirus pandemic and what lies ahead for the rest of this year.

He said the Nebraska travel industry will soon recover as he’s pretty sure they’ll have their first black month this month.

“If we have the same or higher lodging tax that we had last month, we’ll hit the next three months. To me, that means you have a momentum and a recovery that is yet to come.”

Ricks said people are ready to travel again when they book hotels and flights.

To attract people to Nebraska, he said they are starting a new national marketing campaign.
