A look at the construction database TOPHOTELPROJECTS shows that the Saudi Arabian capital Riyadh has an impressive project pipeline with well-known brands.

In the coming years, 42 new hotel projects with 9,689 rooms will open in Riyadh, as our research has shown. We take a closer look at this impressive development board – and take a look at some of the most impressive projects.

Hotel openings in Riyadh by year

In the second half of 2021, 16 hotels with 3,140 rooms are expected to go live – six of them are already in the pre-opening phase.

Another ten projects with 2,332 keys are due for completion in 2022. According to this, eight more openings with 2,444 rooms are on the books for 2023, and another eight are planned for 2024 and beyond.

Of the 42 new hotels in Riyadh, 23 will be four-star. The remaining 19 fall into the five-star luxury segment.

Top hotel brands expand in Riyadh

Radisson Blu Hotels & Resorts is currently working on three projects with a total of 484 keys.

This represents Radisson hotel group‘s upscale brand just ahead of a couple Hilton worldwide steadfast. Hilton Garden Inn and Hilton Hotels & Resorts will increase their presence by two properties each, with 760 or 458 keys.

Riad’s most impressive new hotel projects

The world famous lifestyle brand Nobu will debut in Saudi Arabia in the third quarter of 2021. The brand has signed a contract with local partner Dhaliliyah Investments to realize the 120 rooms Nobu Hotel Riyadh Project that will of course include a unique Nobu restaurant. While Dhaliliyah takes over the architectural work, Rockwell group from Spain was commissioned with the interior design.

Elsewhere and in a new mixed-use complex, Sofitel Riyadh – King Abdullah Foundation Hotel will open in the third quarter of 2022 next to a convention center, mosque and the headquarters of the foundation. The property will offer 388 rooms, six F&B outlets, meeting facilities, a swimming pool, spa and additional leisure facilities. Saudi Diyar Consultants and Richmond design work together to create a stunning addition to the city skyline.

And finally, when it opens in early 2022, Novotel Riad Olaya will offer 215 inviting guest rooms as well as meeting rooms, a fitness center, spa facilities and a swimming pool with terrace. An all-day dining room, a lobby lounge with a café corner and 24-hour room service ensure that guests do not have to go hungry. The hotel’s location near bustling Tahlya Street ensures easy access to local dining and shopping, while King Khaled International Airport is just a 45-minute drive away.
