Sufferer, suspect killed in officer-involved capturing at Jackson lodge

Jackson Police are investigating a shootout at the Olive Tree Hotel on I-55 North Frontage Road. Hotel witnesses said the shooting took place on the third floor of the hotel. According to police, officers were called to the scene early Sunday morning. At the scene of the crime, the officers found a victim who had died of a gunshot wound. The victim was identified as Josh Casaus. The suspect has been identified as Dishawn Sanders. According to police, Sanders started shooting at officers. An officer then returned fire, beat Sanders, and killed him. According to a hotel employee, Sanders stayed at the hotel for almost a year. A motive has not yet been determined.
