Windstar Cruises has officially taken over its Star Legend yacht from the Italian shipyard Fincantieri after a massive multi-million dollar renovation.

The small shipping line started its multi-ship renovation program of the Star Plus initiative in 2019 with the aim of expanding all three ships in the Star Plus class – Star Breeze, Star Legend and Star Pride. The process involved adding a new section to each ship with 50 new suites, new and redesigned public spaces, and additional amenities.

Although the guest capacity has increased from 212 to 312 guests, the size of the motorized all-suite yachts still lives up to Windstar’s promise to visit a mix of smaller, more scenic and larger and more popular harbors.

“We are proud to have Star Legend emerge from this major project when all initial plans are completed,” said Chris Prelog, President of Windstar Cruises. “I am very grateful to Fincantieri for their great partnership on this complex and innovative project. This is the ship I started my maritime career with over 20 years ago, and seeing it like a new ship today is more than exciting for me. I am blown away. “
